Abstract EN

The term ‘discourse strategy’ indicates monitoring the semiotic implications of darkness discourse in various narrative contexts in fiction.

Such type of speech emerges either as thematic, structural and functional strategy or as a predomination of linguistic, visual and semantic structure characterized by successive flow and appeared within literary criteria and spontaneous philosophical and cultural perceptions which can affect readers’ cognition and imagination.

A reader can elicit the fact of ‘discourse darkness’ in the most of the novel elements and its various narrative strategies (i.e., language, personality, event, place and time, plot, vision, etc.).However, we have only considered approaching the discourse strategy in the range of narrative semiotics of place as one of the most significant element of narration where the approach was applied depending on only two fundamental dimensions.

The first deals with approaching the structure of the place darkness as a synthetically profound element where its importance lies in the expansion of its semiotic compositions and indications.

The second dimension deals with the prospects ofrelationships which dominate the ‘darkness discourse’ as well-organized in its existence and multiple in its function, relations and narrations.

As semiotics is the most capable element in creating narrative texts including the inner structure and approaching the textual discourse and its applications required for reflecting narrative meanings and connotations, the present research depends on these factors as a typical methodology for both reading and discursive approach.
