English Abstract
Chelating resins are attractive materials for the selective extraction of trace metals from aqueous solutions in many applications.
In this work, two chelating resins were prepared by chemical attachment of the chelating agents, 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) and trihydroxymethylaminomethane (TRIS) onto silica gel.
The prepared resins exhibited adequate applicability to extract metals from aqueous solutions in the static batch method.
The two resins were used as selective solid phase extraction materials of trace metals Cu2+ , Ni2+ and Mn2+ prior to its determination by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy(ICP-MS).
Identification of the surface modification was characterized and performed on by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR).
The separation/preconcentration conditions of analytes were investigated including exchange capacity, effect of pH, shaking time and isotherm for metal removal.
Application of this modified silica gel to preconcentration of trace Cu2+, Ni2+ and Mn2+ in real water sample using the dynamic method gave adequate accurate and precise results.
