Abstract EN

Many researches clarifeid the need of Egyptian universities to overcome the scientific research problems through establishing centers of research excellence as a starting point to enter the knowledge society age.

Thus,The current study attempted through using descriptive method to expose and to analyze the research excellence concept, the development of the centers of excellence and their features and objectives.

The study identified the reality of scientific research in Egypt and analyzed the previous studies of centers of excellence and identified the benefits of studying them.

Also, some experiences of establishing centers of excellence in some universities were analyzed as: Pan-Texas University, Ontario University, Dokuz Eylul University, Saudian Universities.

The results included a vision for establishing the centers of research excellence in Egyptian Universities.

This vision included firstly, the principles and basics of the vision and secondly, its requirements related to philosophy, aims, education, scientific research, community-service, staff, researchers, management of this centers and legal requirements.
