Abstract EN

This study deals with the effect of symbol on text cohesion in the poetry of Sabah Enooz in this collection (men Yahtisy Al- Shawqh = who sips yearning); the researcher attempts to reveal the effectiveness of symbol.

The poet works hardly to create a textual connection between events he had passed, feel or imagined and the close meanings or significances of the symbol; it is a situational case helps, with other devices, in text cohesion.

The poet invested frequently the Greek and Babylonian symbols as well as the literary characters which had a similar suggestion to the poet's feelings.

These symbols kept the connection among the text's articles.

The study includes three topics:- text's cohesion via symbol in the lexical units, text' cohesion via legend symbol and text' cohesion via covered symbol, respectively.

Text analysis follows these topics.
