Abstract EN

This research aims to prepare a proposal to develop the skills in geography for the teachers of social studies in primary schools.

To achieve the aim of the present research, the researcher chose day school classes which belong to (Baquba city).

The sample of the research is (40) schools and (52) primary teacher (male , female).

The researcher relied on observation as a tool of the research and prepared a list of geographical skills that are necessary for this purpose of (12) main domains and (61) minor skills after confirming of the functionally statistical and the use of statistical means.

The results showed that the teachers of social studies have the skills of map drawing and the sample of the globe which exceeded the criteria adopted while the other skills.
