Abstract EN

The study aims at defining how educational counselors in Ramallah district really practice good ethics in their profession.A questionnaire for Tashtush and Mazahra (2012) has been developed.

It comprises four parts: the first deals with responsibility towards students and consists of 10 items; the second deals with counselor academic efficiency and consists of 15 items; the third deals with secrecy and consists of 10 items; and the fourth deals with acceptance and consists of 6 items.The questionnaire has been distributed to the study community which includes 80 male and female counselors.

The tool reliability was verified through using Cronbach Alpha factor.The overall reliability of the degree to which the educational counselors practice good ethics in their profession was (0.92).

The findings show that the overall degree of the educational counselors’ practice of good professional ethics in Ramallah district was high and they point to the existence of differences in arithmetic means regarding the degree to which the educational counselors in Ramallah district practice good manners.Such differences might be attributed to the variables of: gender ( for females), the field of specialization (for the societal and household development), experience ( for those over 10 years), and qualification ( for those holding M.A.degree or over).

The researchers recommend that the priority be given in employing educational counsellors to those having long experience in practising good professional ethics in counselling.
