Abstract EN
The National Library of Algeria is the oldest cultural institution in Algeria, dating back to 1835.
It was established by decree of the Ministry War.
The brightest French orientalists were interested in organizing the balance of the Arabic manuscripts in the National Library.
The orientalists' interest was to produce an analytical catalog of the most important manuscripts in the Algerian National Library.The article presents in detail the most important achievements of these researchers in the field of books and libraries through the National Library during the colonial period
