Abstract AR

This study attempts to analyze the attitudes of Islamists in Libya towards a political solution by focusing on the position of the Libyan House of Fatwa, in addition to ‘Adala wa Bina’ (Justice and Construction) Party, and the non-Jihadist Salafis.

The paper states that there are three classifications in the positions of Islamists regarding the political solution for Libyan conflict.

While the majority of parties opposed the political agreement, it received the support of the Justice and Construction Party and Al-Watan (Homeland) Party, while some Salafist faction revolved between acceptance and rejection.

It is concluded that the state of division among Islamists, though consistent to their intellectual differences, will marginalize Islamists in Libyan politics.
