Abstract EN

This paper studies the determinants of mutual fund growth and diffusion among Saudi commercial banks during the period 1992-2012 with annual data.

The determinants of mutual fund growth and diffusion include three categories, Banks variables (Banks Assets, Banks Liquidity), Sectorial Variables (Inter Bank Interest rates, Profitability of the banking sector, Number of concurrent bank adopting mutual funds), and Macroeconomic variables (Money Supply and Saudi Financial Market Index (TASI)).

The results show that: Banks Liquidity, Saudi Financial Market Index, Inter Bank Interest rates, Number of concurrent bank adopting mutual funds have a positive impact on growth and diffusion of mutual funds, meanwhile Profitability of the banking sector has a negative effect on mutual funds diffusion
