Abstract EN
This research paper revolves around the study and analysis of social relationships in William Congreve's comedy of manners that is entitled The Way of the World.
Social relationships are to be found in any dramas, especially comedies, inasmuch as they present the interplay of character and action which leads to a happy ending.
The play under consideration is no exception, for it displays the kind of social relationships practiced in the restoration period by characters that can be taken as representatives of actual one living in the restoration period.
Hence, this kind of drama should be considered a historical document in so far as it records the manners of the age in which it was written.
