Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating the adoption range of vegetables' growers to integrated pest management (IPM) of vegetable diseases in Karak and set up the future perspectives for improving their management.

The present study was conducted using personal interviews through a random questionnaire.

The study covers 2,927 dunums representing 6% of the total area used by 115 vegetable growers distributed among the different districts of the province.

Likert scale was used for evaluation and consisting of five categories, in which never was given 1 degree and always given 5 degrees.

This scale covered 24 items done by the growers to protect their vegetables.

The value of Alpha factor was 0.82 and the data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics such as mean, standard error mean, percentages and frequencies.

The results indicated that 90% of the growers are educated, of them 65% were able to read and write.Almost 71% of total respondents have never heard about IPM or not sure what IPM is?.

According to Likert scale, 6-21 with a mean of 2.52-3.44 of the growers did not use IPM techniques to control diseases.

The findings of this study may contribute to ongoing efforts to promote IPM adoption among Jordanian growers and establish national extension programs, and provide guidance to IPM researchers for enhancing the IPM programs’ effectiveness for vegetable diseases.
