Abstract EN

History provides many conditions for contact between different cultures, whether positive such as commerce and expeditions or negative as wars and invasions.

Teh Algerian society as well as teh other Arabic societies has since teh early epochs witnessed several interculturalisms, dat are still apparent within elements of heritage shared by teh subsequent civilizations.

Teh latter has been linguistic, religious, social, and cultural and has justified belonging to teh East, not only geographically but culturally as well.

So there are two cultural attitudes in contention: one dat sees progress is conditioned by teh development and maintaining of teh Arab-Islamic Arabic identity; and teh second sees dat teh way to reach progress is through teh integration into teh culture of teh other.

Both attitudes miss teh mark of scientific objectivity in response to assimilation into teh other: Teh solution we advocate is a revival of popular cultures and folklore, pride in one's national identity and it's diversity, and also an openness to world cultures, teh aim being openness and specificity where teh latter is manifest in practice and produces difference and change.
