Abstract EN

Economic realities are part of the studies relied upon in the writing of history as it is one of the first causes of the French occupation of Algeria.

Archival balances represent one of the most important assets that serve the writing economic history during the colonial period, it contains a variety of historical information, and is divided into parts and arranged chronologically which includes chains called major and minor.

To write this history it was necessary to rely on two areas: 1- 1.

Oran Province Archive: which includes the Major chains such as: Série I which contains Algerian economic issues files, and Minor chains -F- related to Algerian relationships with French administration, releases statistical and economic reports rooms ...

etc.

2- Overseas X-Provence Archives, France.

What can be say is that it wasn’t difficult to reach thanks to organized information, as we find a whole special section devoted to the Algerian archive entitled: Minister of State in charge of Algerian Affairs 1873-1964.
