تنقيح القول في تفسير قوله تعالى (و وجدك ضالا فهدى)‎

Abstract EN

In this research I studied the interpretation of a Quranic verse that may be problematic for people who have no knowledge or for people with estranged hearts.

The verse is (And He found you lost and guided [you],) in Al-douha.

Even I found that some people claimed that the prophet Mohammed was on his people’s religion before he had been sent as a messenger, they based this opinion on false evidences therefore, I traced more than twenty opinions of scholars about this verse clarifying what is accepted from what is rejected by referring this to the purpose of the verse, and the quranic context as well as Al-sera.

All this showed that this claim was false with no evidence at all.

I concluded, that the accepted explanation of (lost) is shortage of knowledge, this means (found you with no knowledge) since the prophet Mohammed didn’t know anything about Islam in that period.

This explanation goes with the nature of prophecy and goes with the meaning.

Moreover, scholars in old times and recently agreed on this explanation, the meaning may be: I found no one adopting your religion so I drove all Arabs for you since the Arabs consider any single tree as a guide for (lost) and thus the prophet in the beginning of his prophecy, so he drove people from the darkness of Jahilia to the wide perspective of Islam.
