Abstract EN

This research addresses the occupations and crafts of scholars in Damascus during the Mamluki era and seeks to identify the nature of these occupations and crafts and the organization of those engaged in them.

Those scholars had different occupations.

Some were carpenters, others goldsmiths or weavers, etc.

They sought to gain enough money for supporting themselves and their families and also for avoiding begging other people.

Some scholars combined learning, teaching and spreading knowledge to people with engagement in some occupation or craft for bread winning.

They managed to organize their time as to achieve all their goals.

At the end of the research there is a conclusion that indicate the study findings.
