Abstract EN

This research discusses an important principle from the contemporary poetic principles.

This principle is the narrative character from the side of essence and concept in the contemporary western criticism, considering its effective influence in the formation of the narrative text, because it resembles an important composing element from the element of the narrative text establishment.

This element is attributedto its interrelation and interaction with the narrative text through its contribution in its aesthetic and indicative production in the same time.

The narrative character is the element, which endows text its task and productivity aesthetically and indicatively through the interaction with it.

This relation produces the actions, states, and sayings in addition to producing the tale components through its events, address construction, language loftiness and method.

This assures the importance of the character in the establishment of the narrativeconstruction.

We issued the novel of the author, Rehab Abu Zaid, which is named "Dancing on the Blades of the Spears" as a procedural spectrum for this critical research.

We have analyzed the characteristics of the narrative character construction on it through four models; the first one is in the character of "Al-Batol" and the other three are secondary models, related to the principal character, which are "the father", "the husband", and "the beloved".

The relation between these models is based on the difference in vision and situation.

Therefore, there was a dispute between a modern generation seeking for exceeding the inherited authority forms and an old generation seeking for keeping this authority.

The essence of this dispute is a dispute between the originality and contemporariness, closeness and openness and past and present
