Abstract EN
This work has been undertaken to assess the hydro-geochemical typology of groundwater in the north-eastern Algeria (Annaba-El Tarf).
This typology has been studied by applying multivariate statistical methods coupled with hydro-chemical methods which have determined the facies, origin and the state of balance of the solid phase with the liquid phase as well as the type of use for which the groundwater can be used.
In this perspective, the results show that the water type dominant is chloride-sodium 82%, seconded by bicarbonate-sodium - calcium 15%.
The molar ratios (Ca+ Mg+ HCO-3) / (Na + Cl + SO4) vs CE), ((Ca+2 + Mg+2) - (Na+ + K+) vs HCO3- (SO4-2 + Cl-)) and (Ca+2 / Mg+2) illustrate that this geochemical relationship is dependent on dissolution of evaporitic minerals, on the carbonated mineral precipitation, alteration of silicates and marine invasion.
The principal components analysis (ACP) confirmed this relationship.
The sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) as well as the diagram (% Na + vs EC) describes the water quality for irrigation but with a specific treatment in some cases.
