استخدام مؤشر مالمكوست لقياس نمو الإنتاجية الكلية في المصارف : دراسة تحليلية مقارنة في المصارف الإسلامية و التقليدية الكويتية

Abstract EN

The study aims to conduct a comparative study between Islamic and conventional banks in Kuwait by applying Malmquist index of total productivity during the period (2006-2010).

The study sample consists of nine Kuwaiti banks and covers the period 2006- 2010, and the data were obtained from Bank scope database.

Accordingly, the study determines three inputs (cost of banking services, salaries and wages, depreciation allowances), as well as two output (loans and investment) to represent the banking production function.

The data were analyzed by using DEAP packages.

The study concluded that: the Islamic banks' growth exceed its conventional counterparts according to Malmquist index for Islamic banks throughout the study period except during the period (2007-2008).

Moreover, the overall average shows that Islamic banks grew by almost 13 % during the period (2006-2010), while Conventional banks grew by 5 %, which indicates that Islamic banks outperform its conventional counterparts by almost three folds.
