Abstract EN

This paper deals with the trend of relations between Al-Khafmiyya religious sect and the Mahdist doctrine, in rather a comprehensive manner ,in an attempt to explore the reasons underlying their discord.

The study suggests that the Mahadiyya doctrine had basically benefited of the heritage of Al-Majdhobiyya religious sect headed by Al-Sheikh Al-Tahir Al-Majdhoub .

This fact my explain the competitive nature of the two group and may also justify the faithfulness of some of Al-Majazeeb in eastern Sudan to the Mahadist cause .

Being confronted by the sweeping new doctrine , Al-Khatmiyya sect endeavored to ask the protection of the Turkish rule ,the main enemy of Al-Mahadiyya.

Hence the conflict between the two groups stated to take a political dimension particularly in eastern Sudan the strong hold of the Turks after their withdrawal from the rest -f the country.
