Abstract EN
Trans.
Dima Mouallim By large, the child, primarily, cling to attribute life to movement, conceiving that every moving object is potentially alive.
Life, for the child, is a continuum of free forces endowed with activity and purpose, asserting the notion of final cause in nature; as such, every object is potentially alive.
He\she distinguishes between automatic, spontaneous movement, on one hand, and imparted movement, on the other, deeming that objects assimilate life rather than consciousness.
Afterwards, in advanced stages, the child denies consciousness to the things he\she ascribed life to, at first, upon realizing that the notion of consciousness seems to have a wider extension than the notion of life.
