This study aims at evaluating the efficiency and the effectiveness of the Math Textbook prescribed to the second secondary scientific class in Jordan .
It aims at identifying the extent to which the book has achieved the objectives of the curriculum.
This study has been conducted to answer the following questions: -What is the degree of achieving the educational objectives related to a Math curriculum for the second secondary class (scientific branch) measured through the students' performance in the achievement test ? - What is the teachers' and the students' assessment of the Math Textbook prescribed for the second secondary scientific class ? An achievement test was developed to measure the basic objectives of teaching Math for the second secondary scientific class.
Accordingly , two questionnaires were developed , one for the teachers and the other for the students.
The population of the study consisted of all the students of the second secondary scientific classes and their teachers of Math during the first semester of the year 2004-2005 .
The chosen sample of the study consisted of ( 809) students and (35) teachers.
The results of the teachers' questionnaire revealed that there is appropriateness of the textbook in most aspects of its evaluations : aims , the language of the textbook , the mathematical content , textbook style , activities , drawings , forms and evaluation .
However, the introduction and the cover of the textbook are not suitable.
Results of students' questionnaire revealed that the suitability of the textbook in all branches of evaluation : textbook introduction , its language , its style , drawings , forms and evaluation is acceptable , except for the activities found in the textbook.
A prominent results of the study showed that 38% of the all aims of teaching of the second secondary scientific class curriculum were not verified with respect to educational scale that considered by the educators..
