Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight factors influencing the professional performance of female journalists working in Jordanian daily newspapers.

The study was conducted on a purposive sample of female journalists which included 100 female journalists, from those working in Alrai, ad-dustour, Al-Arab Al-Yawm, Alghad, Al-diaar, Alssabeel and Al- Anbat.

It was a comprehensive sample.

This study relied on the Gate Keeper Theory and pressures and professional practices entrance which influence the professional performance of women journalists and the entrance to the social factors affecting the nature of professional practice This study concluded that there are different factors affecting the professional performance of female journalists within the working environment of journalists including those related to the public and obtaining information from various sources.

The study shows that someofthese factorshaveapositiveimpactontheirperformancesuch as: job satisfaction, their relationships with their superiors and communication.

The study also shows that other factors have a negative impact, such as a demonstrative regulation, editing polices, competitions with other colleagues and difficulties in obtaining information and dealing with the different sources.
