Abstract EN

This research looks into Quraish poetry in the pre- Islamic era from the following perspectives: its sources and academic value, growth and development, roots, manifestation and trends, loss and scarcity; collection and codification at presentandin the past,andits artistic issues@ It closed with a compilation of Quraish poetry allegedly deemedtobereal@ItconcludesthatQuraishcomposedlittle poetry in the pre-Islamic era, of which only bits and pieces remain@ The lingering fragments, mostly short, were composed in ordinary events that did not call for the high poetic standard of the epic poems in grand occasions@ Hence,theywereplain ingeneralwithscarce poeticqualities and have purely historical rather than poetic value@ Rare both in themselves and the literature about them, these fragments revealed nothing at all
