Abstract EN

The study addresses a political, military and ideological event, not only a religious one, that threatened the entirety of the Arab peninsula in the pre- Islamic era.

This event is none other than Ibraha A1-Ashram's invasion Of Mecca.

This study aims to analyze the image of this dramatic event as it is portrayed in Jahili poetry and it discusses how Jahili poets depicted the invasion they had experienced.

The study adopts the descriptive-analytical approach to define this image.

TO achieve this, the paper is divided into four parts: The first is a linguistic-literary introduction that mentions the different linguistic-idiomatic meanings Of the term "Mecca" as Viewed by many research- ers past and present.

This reveals the extent of the relation between the term and the semantic meaning.

The second part illustrates the image of Mecca and its significance to the Jahili-Arab man prior to A1-Ashram's invasion.

It also shows the importance Of the link between Jahili poetry and the place it originates from.

The third part of the paper explains the declared and undeclared motives behind A1-Ashram's invasion of Mecca.

Moreover, it addresses the status of Arabs during their struggle to confront this big crisis that threatened their very existence.

The fourth and final part dissects the image of the invasion from all its militaristic aspects resulting in different poetic images: The image Of Al- Ashram's army, the image of the defeat of the army, the image of the elephant that participated in the invasion, and the image Of those Arabs Who collaborated with A1-Ashram.

The paper ends With a conclusion that mentions the results and findings reached by this study.
