Abstract EN

This essay deals with important phase of the childhood of the Prophet PBUH.

It was one of the signs of his prophethood.

That is the narration of Bahira the Monk with whom he met in Busra during the Prophet’s journey to Sham (Syria and surrounding countries) accompanying his uncle Abu Talib at the age of Twelve.

This account was subject of interest by the scholars and biographers of the Prophet.

They mentioned it in their books.

Some of them however,accepted the narration directly and some accepted it indirectly.

While others denied its authenticity and refused to use as an evidence.

This research, tries therefore to investigate the narration to find out its authenticity and to discuss the scholars view on understanding the narration.

Then the researcher tries to find the stronger and weightier opinion according to hadith measures.

This research represents one of the good examples of the textual criticism of the Hadith.
