Aging of pipes and increasing demands placed upon it, have led to system deterioration which causes increase in operation, maintenance costs and decrease in the quality and quantity of water supplied.
The water utilities put the plans to overcome these problems by suggesting solutions valid through a predefined period of time.
When suggesting these solutions, the utilities mainly concentrate on the cost only without taking into consideration many important factors.
In the target year, El-Minia new city network will suffer from many problems such as low pressures and high velocities.
In this paper, twelve of demand allocating methods is used to simplify El-Minia network to facilitate the optimization process, and the best method is selected and used.
We suggest solutions to the network by using Darwin Designer which is a tool in Bentley WaterGEMS V8i software.
In addition, many tools in the software are used to evaluate the suggested solutions according to cost, efficiency, network performance at abnormal conditions and water quality.
Finally, the most consistent solution is selected.
