Abstract EN
(lere, thermoelastic stability of functionally graded rectangular plates is investigated using the new four variable refined plate theory.
Unlike any other theory, the number of unknown functions involved is only four, as against five in case of other shear deformation theories.
The theory presented is variationally consistent, does not re؟uire shear correction factor, and gives rise to transverse shear stress variation such that the transverse shear stresses vary parabolieally across the thickness satisfying shear stress free surface conditions.
Temperature field is assumed to be a uniform distribution over the plate surface and varied in thickness direction only.
Material properties are graded in the thickness direction according to simple power law distribution.
?٠٢ the numerical illustrations, aluminum/alumina is considered as functionally graded material.
The variation ١؛؛ critical buckling load is highlighted considering gradient index, temperature, the relative thickness.
