The canonicity of English literature is looked upon with high regards for the exalted position it possesses universally.

The varieties of its subjects, styles, reflections on life, magnitude, aesthetic beauty and the utility of language proficiencies made it gain a worldwide reputation.

With all such reasons, the English literature is an integral part of the curriculum when teaching and studying English as a foreign language in non-native contexts.

Despite its effectiveness, a loathing of literature seems to permeate the learning atmosphere.
