The study seeks to examine the effectiveness of a linguistic training program in developing linguistic skills of a sample of children with Intellectual disability.
The sample consisted of (26) little boys and girls with minor mental disability who suffered receptive and expressive linguistic disorders.
They aged between (5 to 8) years and were enrolled in the Center of "I will be" for Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs in Jeddah.
The (26) children were equally divided into two groups (experimental and control groups)each of which included 13 little boys and girls.
To achieve the objectives of the program, two instruments were used one of which was: a linguistic skills scale, which was prepared and its appropriate semantic psychometric significances were figured out and the other instrument was the training program.
For the sake of it, the researcher has consulted a number of specialized linguistic training programs consecrated for children with minor mental disability.
The program consisted of (30) training sessions of (30-45) minutes each split into individual and group sessions for developing receptive and expressive linguistic skills.
The program's application process lasted for a full school year 1435/1436.
The study findings indicate a presence of statistically significant differences (a = 0.05) in arithmetic means ascribable to the effect of the training program.
The differences were in favor of the experimental group regarding the receptive and expressive linguistic skills.
There were no statistically significant differences ascribable to the effect of sex variable or the interaction between the group and the sex regarding the receptive and expressive linguistic skills.
The study recommends that further studies should be conducted on other programs and variables.
