Abstract EN

This research aims at shedding light on some features of cultural contrast in between Arabic and English in order to reply the question that says: “To which extent are both of the Arabic and English languages similar or different from sense of their epistemological borders mainly in the field of Metalinguistics.

We do try to explicit this dimension through some chosen samples and examples by referring to some of the translation Arabic/English procedures such as: Equivalence – Modulation – Adaptation and word by word translation.

This through a contrastive study linked to applied linguistics in its practical side.

We try to show the role of the translator who makes the transfer of the source text into the target one.

For such a deal, he/she must have a great knowledge about the culture of both languages since he can’t anyway translate with a cultural blindness.
