Abstract EN

This study addressed the issue of civil protection for geographical indications, according to the provisions of the Jordanian legislation and international conventions, which showed content of geographical indications, and its concept, and how they differ and agree with some of the concepts and similar labels, naming the country of origin, source .and because of the role they play in promoting domestic and international trade, which mainly depends on the consumers trust in different countries, and how he felt reassured to some of the products that carry a certain geographical indicator reflects the amount of trust, quality and originality that product So it was incumbent upon the Jordanian legislator that for geographical indications legal protection, and limits it to the civil protection without criminal ones in order to prevent unfair competition, and curb its means all ways.

Perhaps it is only by subjecting geographical indications registration system is achieved, and the protection of trademarks associated with the geographic index.
