Abstract EN

This research aims at investigating the tools used in narration in contemporary research which interest is directed toward the study of literary discourse.

The latter is known among imminent scholars like Gérard Genette as the way the narrative material is presented.

Said Yaktine argues that ‘ the narrative material may be only one, but what changes is the discourse in the way a work is written and organised.

If a group of novelists were given a material which can be narrated, and if we determined in advance the characters, its central events, time and place, we would come to the conclusion that they would provide us with different discourses according to their orientations and points of view even if they have to discuss the same work.

However, they agree on how to use the tools of narration such as description and dialogue though they employ them in a different way.

In this research, we intend to tackle the concept of narration including its analytical and stylistic dimensions.

We will also study the importance and standards of description, and the interaction between description and narration.

Finally, we will focus on dialogue due to its diversity and the wide range of terminology used so far by the researchers.
