Abstract EN
This study was carried out to estimate the actual water flows through the Blue Nile stream, and to find the relation between the probability of exceedance (p%) and the discharges (Qp), and get the curve that shows this relation.
A gauge record for about 26 years from (El-Deim), gauge station located at the border between Sudan and Ethiopia were used for calculations.
The results showed that the Blue Nile mean discharge is about 1387 m^/s, it also verified that the coefficients Cs=55 and cs=4cv are correct, and the curve p%=f(Qp) gives a real discharges.
The study concluded that the hydrological characteristics result should be used as a base for the Blue Nile water regulation at EL RUSEIRIES DAM.
The study needed to be extended by further study on Ruseiries Dam management program.
Introduction: Sudan is classified as one of the biggest agricultural countries in the region, it has enough sources for agricultural activities (i.e.
land & water).
The principal source for irrigation water is the Blue Nile River.
According to the joint use agreement signed in 1959 between Sudan and Egypt the share of Sudan is 18,5 km^ at ASWAN station or 20,35 km^ at SINNAR Dam.
The land area possible for agricultural Reclamation is about 84 million hectares, from which about 7,0 mill.hec being irrigated consuming about 18,23 km^ of water.
It is clearly noticed that any new plans for big agricultural projects will be facing water defect.
