Abstract EN

Votive cubits arc kinds of antiquities, which lack of satisfying publishing.

They named as *ceremonial cubit' because of their lavish decoration.

Cubit is one of the early-recognized units of length used by the ancicnt people.

For Ancicnt Egyptians, it was the standard measure.

This kind of cubits was not employed as tools, but whether as votive, or among funerary equipment.

Therefore, most of them were of hard stone.

This paper aims to explain their extraordinarily and interesting inscriptions.

The searcher compares some votive cubits of several periods, and studies the hieroglyphic text on them.

This research aims to study the measures of the river Nile around the year according to pertinent preserved inscriptions.

The searcher focuses on inscriptions on some votive cubits, to define the different levels in Nile floods through the year.

In addition, he compares between some other tables inscribed on these cubits, and their relation with water and shadow clocks.

The searcher also offers an extensive discussion about a measuring unit known as i/rw.

This is identified as large areas measuring unit, seems to equals about 20.000 royal cubits (10.5 kilometers), and the Greeks named it as *schoenus \ A further aim of this study is to clarify the relationship between this kind of long distancemeasure and the cubit.
