Abstract EN

Whilst traditional heritage tourism has been the major attractor for tourists visiting Egypt, recent diversification of tourism has resulted in high-quality coastal products.

As the British market is a fast growing market segment, this paper examines the trend of the British tour operators’ brochures and websites towards presenting the Egyptian coastal tourism.

The study was conducted by examining and researching various brochures and websites of major United Kingdom high street tour operators using content and statistical analysis techniques.

The analysis showed that the coastal destinations were promoted and portrayed more than the other destinations in Egypt.

The Red Sea and Aqaba Gulf resorts are amongst Egypt’s top attractions and are included in most of the Egyptian all-inclusive packages.

Additionally, most of the images depicting tourist activities in the Govemorates of Red Sea and South Sinai are for diving and snorkelling.

Thomson website was ranked one of the top British tour operators selling Egyptian coastal holidays.

Finally the North Coast is not promoted at all as a tourist destination in the brochures and websites.
