Abstract EN

This study was conducted to explore the level of Saudi university students’ awareness of metacognitive learning skills and detect any statistically significant differences that could be attributed to the variables of university, academic year and gender.

A survey comprising (39) items relevant to 3 metacognitive learning areas (planning, control and evaluation) was administered to a randomly selected sample of (1249) Saudi students studying at 5 different colleges of education from 5 different Saudi universities.

Findings revealed an overall high score of awareness of metacognitive learning skills.

There were statistically significant differences that could be attributed to the university variable in favor of students from Taibah University, IAF University, Qassim University and Jeddah University in comparison with Hail University.

There were no statistically significant differences that could be attributed to the gender or academic year variables.
