Abstract EN
The present study aims at presenting interpretation of two of Keats' odes:" Ode to a Nightingale" and "Ode on a Grecian Urn" with special concentration on the significance of the symbols.
The Statement-Evidence-Approach is to be followed as a procedure in presenting the interpretation of each one of the odes sperately. The intended interpretation enhanced with quoted material from the original text as "evidence".
The comparison between the two odes is made to determine the central symbols the "Nightingale" and the "Grecian Urn" and the minor symbols in the two poems.
While the"Nightingale"is dynamic and vital the" Urn" is static and lifeless.
Some other features of the romantic poetry are expressed in different ways in both of the odes through the symbols that express the beauty of nature, love, superstition, mythological, religious and historical notions.
The paper ends up with some conclusions, appendices and a list of references.
