Abstract EN

Undoubtedly،the financial crisis in Kurdistan Region-Iraq due to the cutting of its budget from the federal government since the early beginnings of 2014 has negative implications on the purchase power of employees since the compulsory saving for employees was adopted by the Region’s government to overcome the crisis.

Consequently،most employees have to do more than one job to cover living costs.

For this purpose،out of (413) questionnaires were randomly circulated on the employees of Salahaddin University (5) questionnaires were excluded due to their invalidity.

Hence،only (408) questionnaires were analyzed based on the available statistical methods and technics for data analysis.

The study has concluded that the rate of compulsory saving imposed on the salaries of employees in Salahaddin University ranged between (25%-75%) with the majority of having postgraduate degrees (Masters and PhDs).

The study also has shown that the value of internal demand elasticity has risen from (0.929) to (1.106) after imposing the system of compulsory saving which means that the economic condition of the families of the academic staff in Salahaddin University has aggravated remarkably.
