Abstract EN

The concept of intertextuality has gained a strong foothold ever since Julia Kristeva coined it in the late 1960s.

The term has been used and misused by many scholars whom on certain occasions lost sight of the original perspective of the concept as presented by Kristeva.

Thus the concept of intertextuality has become one of the heated discussions among scholars of different fields of study, especially literary critics and linguists.

The present study aims at highlighting kristeva‘s perception of the notion of inertextuality as a production within texts, rather than as a series of relationships between different texts.

Furthermore, the study sheds light on the various definitions and perceptions of the notion of Intertextuality.

It advocates John Fiske‘s model of analysis as the best representative of Kristeva‘s conception of intertextuality.

Intertextuality has been investigated in several video segments ofOprah Winfrey‘s talk shows all of which discusses the topic of forgiveness.

This study provides evidence that intertextuality, in the context of talk shows, is used to influence people via reshaping text meanings by other texts.
