Abstract EN

This study deals with the verses that tackle the topic of greed in the Holy Quran.

The problem of this study lies in the need to identify the expressions, meaning and reasons of greed in the verses of the Holy Quran.

The study seeks to clarify the meaning of greed and its synonyms, and the perspective of the Islamic law towards it, besides highlighting its types, impact and treatment .

This study is based on the inductive, analytical and deductive research approach.

The most prominent results of the study are, definition of the concept of greed and its synonyms, such as aspiration and hope; highlighting the reasons that lead to greed, such as the desire of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the desire of believers and disbelievers in the forgiveness of Allah, and going to heaven in the afterlife.

There are two types of greed: desired and reprehensible, Islamic law promotes a certain type of greed on one hand and condemns another negative type on the other hand, mentioning the approaches to treat greed among humankind
