Abstract This essay tends to take the reader and introduce him to the concept of criticizing the criticism of literature as a field of knowledge that has been for a long time restricted to the old criticism concept and non recognized independently untill lately when given the term of critics of criticism in modern time so in this study we will try to define this concept and giving the facts and importance and clarifying it through determining its development in Arabic literature and western literature chronologically starting from differences from other fields of knowledge ,generally,and from literature criticism specificity, trying to give clear distinguished features that scholars find hard for the many common points between this two fields and for the interactive and complementary relation between
