English Abstract

G418 also known as geneticin, is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that will select eukaryotic cells expressing the neomycin protein.

Neomycin, kanamycin and G418 are all similar compounds known as aminoglycosides that can be inhibited by the product of the neo gene, neomycin phosphotransferase.

G418 is specific for the eukaryotic ribosome while the others more specifically inhibit the bacterial organelle.The minimum antibiotic concentration to use is the lowest concentration that kills most of the cells in 1- 4 days from the start of antibiotic selection.The aim of the study G418 selection, dose lethal concentration as two weeks to maintain the concentration of screening and study it's on Fibroblast chicken embryos.The results showed that the G418 at 200 μg / ml was the optimal concentration, giving the most effective kill within the two weeks, and was the concentration used in most of the gene targeting experiments.
