Abstract EN

Due to the importance of computer in the development of teaching/ learning process at universities, this study aims at achieving some objectives, among which are: stating the importance of using computers in the teaching and learning process in universities; suggesting design considerations in constructing classrooms for a better use of computers; and, finding solutions to impediments of the use of computers in universities.

The study came out with the following findings: the use of computer for teaching at universities is a necessity; no attention is paid to applying the principles of designing educational aids and preparing classrooms; and, the high cost of computer devices and their peripherals.

Based on the aforementioned findings, the study recommends that using computer for teaching should be among the priorities of higher education policy.

Principles of preparing and using educational aids should be applied in designing and preparing classrooms.

Institutions of higher education should apply the concept of environmental designer when constructing classrooms
