Evaluation of fibronectin in diabetic pregnancy

Twenty five pregnant diabetic latlies as a study group, and 15 non diabetic pregnant ladies as a control group were included in this study.

For both groups weight, height and blood pressure were obtained.

Fundus examination was done to exclude microangiopathy in the study group.

Laboratory work for measuring haemoglobin, haematocrite value, blood urea, serum creatinine, and acid were for both groups.

Fasting and 2 hours itost prandial bloott glucose were measured for the diabetic group Foetal weight, placental weight and Apgar score had also been estimated.

At the time of delivery, maternal and cord blood samples were withdrawn to measure plasma fibronectin levels by the tingle radial immunodiffusion technique.

Obtained results were statistically analysed and revealed that foetal birth weights were significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (3.9 kgm±0.52 versus 3.45kgm±0.18).

No significant difference was detected in maternal plasma fibronectin levels (27.48mg%Jt4.4 versus 29.36mg%±4.6).

Also, no significant differences in foetal fibronectin levels were detected (12.98mg% 14.66 versus 14.59mg%±4.74).
