Upon irradiation with ultra-violet light „ pentafluoroiodobenzeae decomposes into pentafluorobenzene and iodine radicals- The mode of decomposition is associated with the absorption due to the CX group in the molecule.

The primary and secondary processes of the decomposition are disscused.
