Abstract EN

The effect of mechanical stress on the Hall coefficient in Aluminium is studied.

It is domcnstrated that such a stress tends to increase the Hall coeff- cicnt.

This may be explained in terms of the fact that mechanical displacement of atoms apart from each other will reduce the overlapping between differ- ent bands.

This will reduce the number of charge carriers per unit volume causing the Hall coefficient Rh - —— to increase where n is the charge nec concentration e, is the electronic charge and c is the speed of light.
