Abstract EN

The current study aims to explore the effectiveness of the phonic reading strategy in developing first three grades primary stage pupils’ reading and listening skills in the arab republic of Egypt in the governorates of Minia, Bani Swaif, Fayoum, and Qina.

The instruments of the study, prepared by the researcher included the learning and teaching manuals used by the teacher and pupils while conducting the field work of the study as well as the first three grades reading skills test.

Findings of the study revealed statistically significant differences favoring the experimental group in the pupils’ following reading skills : recognizing the sound of the letter and letter name, reading invented words, reading comprehension and listening comprehension.
