Abstract EN

This research which is addressed with « The Journey of Ibn Fadlane, study in Structure and semantics » is analytical insight in the literature of the journey, to reveal its components and its various connotations.

The importance of this research is that ; it deals with Ibn Fadlane Journey that reveals to us the civilizational ,the cultural,the social,the stylistic and the linguistic values that characterize the era in which Iabn Fadlane lived.

This research/study will be a window for the modern learner through which he recognizes the various aspects of the arabic life and the non arabic one,which are mentioned in the trip that took place in the Abbassian era .

the time of El Khalifa El Moutawakil ;and it included arabic and non arabic countries.

This research aims at investing in an important old text which is not studied enough ; through methodical tools that are modern and contomporary, to identify it and to turn it into a historic and a civilized window ;through which the contomporary arabic learner recognize the historical, cultural , scientific and humanitarian implications that were identified by the arabic civilization at the time when Ibn Fadlane journey was written.

This research will address a problematic issue that can be built on the following questions What are the structural characteristics of arabic geographical literature through the journey of Ibn Fadlane ? -What are the historical,social,cultural and humanitarean implications which the text of the journey transmit ? In order to treat this issue, we will rely on what the historical method offers of mechanics for study ,because it makes the text a historical document for the study of three basic elements which are : the era(the time) ,the environment(the place) and sex(human) .

More over,we may take advantage from what some other methods that are close to the historical one such as the social method and the structural formative
