Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the semantic issues that Al-Tabari used Imr’ Alqays’ poems in order to explain the meaning of the Quranic verses and its context, to enhance his understanding, or to refute his opponents’ point of view in the interpretation of verses.

That shows the status of the classic Arabic Poems in the Arabic heritage in general, and the works of Imri’ Alqays in particular.

The researcher adopts historical methodology and also the inductive methodology to trace the semantic issues in Al-Tabari’s interpretation in his Book (Jama’ Al-Bayan Fi Ulumil Al- Quran) to review the works of Imri’ Alqays, and the resources that contain his poems and explained them linguistically.

The researcher found out that Al-Tabari used Imri’ Alqays’s poems 27 times to explain the semantic issues in the interpretation, 19 are nouns, 8 are verbs.
