Abstract EN
The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between human resource management practices (HRMPs) implemented at five- star resorts and employee job satisfaction, and measuring its effectiveness in retaining employees.
These practices include: training & development, rewards & benefits, personal recognition, internal communication system, performance appraisal, and employee empowerment.
Data were collected by developed questionnaire.
Originally, 300 questionnaire forms were distributed among employees who are working in different departments of five-star resort hotels located in Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh.
Only 214 questionnaires were returned giving a response rate of 71.3%.
Data were statistically analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis.
It is founded that all items of HRMPs are positively related to better employees' satisfaction and retention.
Furthermore, three human HRMPs: Training & development, Performance appraisal, and Rewards & benefits are contributing strongly (adjusted R2 = 0.696) in enhancing retention of resorts' employees than the other three HRM practices.
It is concluding that the ability of resort hotels to retain its employees could be elevated by adapting these practices.
